I came across PicMonkey because I wanted to make a few quick edits on some pictures. I didn’t want to open apps on my computer because I didn’t need all the bells and whistles, and I wanted to be done in a flash. I had come across Picnik and discovered they were moving (bought by Google). I don’t have a problem with that, but I didn’t want to mess with something I would have to relearn later. PicMonkey was a recommended photo editing option from the Picnik site. Interested, I gave it a try.
The first screen is straightforward. I uploaded my picture by clicking on “Edit your photo”.
There are basic editing features like crop and resize.
There are other fun options too. It is simple to add text or a photo effect. They have added some new features since I began playing with it–less than two weeks ago. This is a picture I took from the site today…just having some fun.
This is free. It is quick. Once finished, I saved it to my computer and went on my merry way. Since it’s on the internet, it is possible to edit anywhere (although I haven’t given it a try on my iPad. There isn’t an app for that, but maybe that will come in time). It works well, it has a sleek design, and there is monkey humor. Who doesn’t love monkey humor.
Give it a try. Let me know what you think.
