More of You, Jesus

more of you Jesus

More of You, Jesus

The Five Minute Friday word for today is more.

More of Jesus. If that’s what I want, what I truly want, than I have to have less of me, of my plans and my way of doing things. I need more time with him and less time on other things. More space in my time, more time in the word, more time listening and pouring out my heart. More listening. That’s hard because I think more of myself, my plans and ideas all too much. I need less of me and more of patient waiting. Patient waiting. That’s hard, so hard. But if I want more of Jesus, and want him to have more of me, I need less of the word, hay, and stubble of life. Not that enjoyment and passion are cast aside. Instead, I press toward more enjoyment that includes him, and more aligning my passion to his passion.

What would life look like if I had more of Jesus, and he had more of me? I’ve read the stories in the Bible, heroes of the faith, who lived incredible lives. I want more of that. Can I have more of that if I am walking through the routines of laundry and meals, of playing guitar and teaching? Absolutely. He invites me.

What will you have less of this week so you can have more of Jesus?

Taking time to decide is one step toward more of him.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you and encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

    That’s what I want, too. More of Jesus and less of me. I thought of some of the words of an old hymn. I think it was titled “More About Jesus.” Some of the words are:
    More about Jesus would I know,
    More of His grace to others show;
    More of His saving fullness see,
    More of His love who died for me.
    The full song can be found here: http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/More_About_Jesus/

    Blessings to you! I’m your neighbor at #FiveMinuteFriday.

      Beautiful words. More about Jesus…that’s an awesome theme to life.
      Thank you for visiting and for sharing those words.

    “Can I have more of that if I am walking through the routines of laundry and meals, of playing guitar and teaching? Absolutely. He invites me.” — I needed that reminder of His invitation! He wants to be in our mundane and it’s easy to think it’s not that important…but being reminded that He WANTS us is what I needed to hear tonight (especially as I’m headed off to do another load of laundry).

      I’m learning how much those mundane tasks are opportunities for me to be less and him to be more in me and have more of me. My inner rebel doesn’t want to cooperate, but each load of laundry is being greater (in Jesus’ way of being great).
      Thanks for visiting.

    I thought of the same hymn as Gayl…
    More, more about Jesus,
    More, more about Jesus;
    More of His saving fullness see,
    More of His love Who died for me.
    We must have more of Him for in Him we live and move and have our being! May we all know Him more this week. Visiting from 70 at #FMF.

      Yes, and yes. I want to make determined steps to move me closer to Jesus.
