Kid Quotes: Math

Kids say shocking, funny, sweet, wonderful, insightful, deep things. I am often caught off guard when the phrase is uttered, but I am thankful for the ways I am inspired or, quite often, amused by their words. I have decided to share a quote each week. If you have a good quote to share, please do so in the comments.

 Math

My Teenager (14): How fun can a math book get?

Sarcasm. He is his mother’s son. My teenager is taking Algebra this semester. Math is not his favorite subject–by far. This is his way of making light of his dislike-hate relationship with the subject. This semester, his teacher has an opportunity to change that view. We shall see. We shall see.

What do you think?

Are you a Math fan?

Hahaha! I relate to that question…How fun indeed? Well, it’s like keeping chickens for eggs. Lots more work than fun, but the eggs are the reward. Many other similar comparisons come to mind, as I am always looking for a way to laugh about something difficult. Math is not funny, though…unless you have a really clever teacher, which I hope your son has. Adulthood has given me 20/20 hindsight about what is important to learn when you’re young. Too bad I thought I’d never use math for anything but counting change at the checkout counter.

I was using math today. BunBun wants to make an ocean relief display out of fabric. It’s like 3-D quilting. I hope it works.
