God says you’re worth it

you're worth itToday’s word for Five Minute Friday is worth. This month, I’m putting my Friday focus on God’s sovereignty with a verse, a song, and a prayer. Read what I wrote about God’s sovereignty in grief here. Before I saw the word, God drew my heart toward God’s sovereignty as it relates to his love for us. Here are my thoughts in five minutes followed by a song and prayer.

God says I’m worth it

Nothing can separate me from your love. Not even me. You love me. My worth is completely in your hands. I think of the story about the violin at auction. How the violin was broken down and seemed worthless. That is, until a master violinist picked it up and played beautiful music. Then, oh then, everyone knew the violin’s worth. My worth is in your hands.

The world around me, and sometimes the world within me, sees me as worthless. It sees my bumps and bruises. It judges me by my weakness and failures. I buy into it and agree. I shrink back and wonder what I can do to be “worth it.” What can I do? What can I do?

I try to put forth my best. Some days, I impress. I feel worth.

All too often, I don’t hit the mark. Your mark. The world’s mark. Not even my mark. Then I feel less than. I don’t feel loved. I know I’m not worth it.

But I see your sovereign hand in the scripture that says your love is based on you. I can’t escape it. In Christ, your love for me is sealed. I cannot escape it. No matter what.Romans 8:38-39

God says we’re worth it

It’s not how much we can do to make ourselves worthwhile but how God has already determined it to be true. We all fail to live perfectly. Plus, the world around and our inner thoughts can be our biggest enemies when it comes to knowing our worth. We get beaten up and wonder. It’s a challenge to believe the truth.

Take a deep breath and rest in the truth

In Christ, nothing can separate you from the love of God. Not even you can separate you from God’s love found in Jesus. If you’re not “feelin’ the love,” it might be because you’re not receiving his comfort in your grief.

Two songs about God’s love

These songs press us toward truth. God’s love for us is sure. He pursues us.

A prayer receiving God’s love and knowing our worth

Father God,

Forgive me for wavering against the truth. Some days, I’m not convinced. I look around at my life, especially the hard days, and question your love. Other days, I question your love because I failed. I don’t feel worthy of your love.
Right now, I affirm the truth that says you love me, and there is nothing that can separate me from your love. When I don’t understand why you allow suffering in my life, comfort me and help me know you are working your purposes that never sidestep your love. When I don’t feel worthwhile, fill my heart with the worth you place on me.
I choose to rest in your love for me today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
