God Quotes: The Power of Praise

The Power of Praise

Praise. Giving thanks. It's powerful. Don't think it's true? Have you taken the time to dig deep and think about all the good that is in your life? I took some time to think it out. I listed what was good. At the end of it, I was convinced of something true: I have a very good life.

Prior to that exercise, I regularly got myself caught in thinking about what wasn't the way I wanted it to be. My mind mulled over the ever growing list. When I pondered those things, I was not able to enjoy life. My attitude tanked, and I got grumpy. Then all my thoughts were depressed. I started to believe my life wasn't so good. Crazy thinking, I know.

May I never forget the good things he does for me.

What a terrible choice to forget the good things God has done for me. God has allowed suffering. He has allowed hardship. But more than any difficulties I have faced, He has given grace and strength each step of the way. He has deepened me in the midst of the difficulties. He has forgiven me of my sins, and I get to call Him Father. I don't need to add more. That would be more than enough, but God is not stingy. He gives and gives.

Pray to Him now

Father, thank you for lavishing your love on me. Every day I am alive is a gift from you. And in each day, there are countless moments throughout the day I receive your mercy. Many times, I miss it. It totally miss it. Help me to see your goodness and loving kindness. Help my eyes to be open to the wonder and awesomeness around me. And as I see, let me praise you will my whole being. In Jesus' name, amen.
