God Quotes: Have This Attitude

We didn't go anywhere for church today. We were planning on it, and Babycakes woke up at her regular time (early) and went back to bed (a clear sign she isn't feeling well. It was a long day of traveling, so exhaustion might be the reason.) So instead of going somewhere, we had some time at home. I broke out a DVD sermon series called Canvas with Louie Giglio and Andy Stanley. We didn't have success with part one (scratches on the disk made it impossible to view), so we watched part two.

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11 NLT)

Have This Attitude

As I listened, I was challenged with the truth that God's glory is preeminent in God's mind. He is working out His glory and not mine. And to demonstrate what that is supposed to look like, Jesus lived it. Jesus didn't make His life on earth about His will. He made it about the will of the Father–even unto death.

What would my life look like if God's will was preeminent in my mind?

It would start with having Christ's attitude. That sounds like a tall order. But with Christ in me, all is possible.
