Five Minute Friday: Visit or Stay

The word for today is visit. I wrote about visit once before. Read it here.

Visit or Stay

Do I really believe this world is a very small visit compared to eternity? That I am here for a short visit, and that I will be preparing for a very long–eternally long–stay in Heaven. I wonder what is telling about my thoughts. About my goals. About my actions. What do they say about where I want to stay?

If I am packing my bags for eternity, am I filling it with fluff that will burn up? And when I think about leaving this world behind for eternity, do hope it won’t come too soon because I want to do a few more fun things?

I do need to be present here, because that is where God has me. There is no benefit for sitting on my roof waiting for the eternal to come. I want to be building. I want to be investing. Investing that lasts here and lasts forever. My choices could make my visit here full and meaningful and pack my eternal bags for my eternal stay.

Are you a visitor here or living to stay?

What difference does it make to see yourself as a visitor or one who is making a life to stay?

What is Five Minute Friday?

It is a 5-minute writing party. Click the icon to read some other great writing.

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you and encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.
