Five Minute Friday: Rise

The word for today is rise.

The steam rises up from my cup of tea. It brings with it the aroma of pleasantries awaiting my tastebuds. It’s hard to know what I enjoy more: the flavor or the all around feeling of the warm cup in my hands and the familiarity. But in that cup is a reminder to me. It is to rise. That steam comes from heat. As the water boils, the water changes and rises above. As it is lifted, it leaves what it was and becomes something new. And there is an aroma.

When life is boiling my waters, do I sit and stew. Or do I allow it to transform me. Allow it to cause me to rise. Rise above the stirring and unsettling whirling of life. And when I allow myself to be transformed, there is a beautiful aroma. One that can only come from the heat of life.

Sure, I could let life make me bubble and boil, but I want to rise.

What do you need to rise above today?

So often I sit and bubble but my hearts desire is to rise. I always need my quiet time with God to face the day and give me the strength to rise above whatever may come in the day.

What a lovely picture, and what a great analogy! Rising from the boiling to create a transformed, pleasant aroma. Beautifully written!
