Five Minute Friday: New

The word for Five Minute Friday today is new.

New. That is a newborn baby. The start of a new year. Beginning of a new job. It is the start of excitement. It is fresh and unexplored.

Some days, I wonder if new has passed me by. The new is for those little ones I have that are not little any more. The older they get, the more I see life through their new's and less and less mine. But I know there is new still left in me.

New starts every day. It is fresh with possibilities even if I make the same old meal or repeat the same statements I made a thousand times before. It is new because I have a chance to do life differently. I can put the yesterdays in their place and say, “You stay there! I am not the sum total of my mistakes. I can choose my moment. I can be new and renewed.” I can look at my new day and be as fresh and excited as my youngest. That is, if I choose to embrace the new.

New. It is for me. I can take a deep breath and breathe in the possibilities.

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you and encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

There is beauty in “new” for sure. And although the newness fades it is replaced with something equally as lovely and comfortable. I love the hope each new day holds, as you’ve said. Thanks for sharing!
