Five Minute Friday: Blue

The word for today is blue.

Blue sky. The deep blue of the ocean. Blue. It has so much life to it. It is sky and water. I like the color blue. It is one of my favorite colors. And yet, it is also used to mean sad or downcast. How could a cheerful color be anything but happy? But here it is. The color of Eeyore. (Although, he is gray. Right?)

I take back blue to be the sky. The expanse of endless possibilities. Blue skies are a great day. I take it to be the ocean. Summer play and time of rest. Put them together and it speaks of wonderful memories of family and friends at the beach. The sky above and the ocean or a lake taking us into the Creator’s playground.

Blue is peace and rest and fun. I am blue today, but not the sad kind of blue. I am the blue that God declares from nature. Blueberries. Blue jays. Clear sky. A calm pond. I’m that blue today.

What does blue mean to you?

Beautiful!! I love how you wrote about being blue as a separate experience from FEELING blue. I can completely relate to that!
