Five Minute Friday: Alone

The word for today is alone.

Alone

Alone

Go.

I feel alone more than I’d like.

Even in a crowd of people. People I like. People who I think like me.

Alone. With my chest tightening and the sadness rising up.

Alone, because I carry burdens no one knows or can know.

Or, so I think.

I bury myself deeper into myself. I put on a smile.

While I won’t lie and say, “I’m fine,” I don’t reveal either.

But I am never truly alone, because God does know.

And He invites me to give my burdens to him.

He knows all the details–especially the ones I’ve tried to forget.

Feelings I cannot identify for myself.

He can help me open up and look.

He can bring them to light and to healing.

And when I trust Him, He can bring me into relationships.

Friendships that allow for that healing to have a home.

Then, the not alone but feels alone can be forgotten.

As I open to Him.

Stop.

What do you do when you feel alone?

Where do you go with your thoughts? Do you run to “busy” or run to “fun” or…?

Cheryl, I know how it feels to be in a room full of people but feel alone. That’s what I wrote about in my post tonight as well. You wrote so beautifully about the many emotions but also the knowledge that God is with us and the comfort of His presence. Truly, He will never leave us. And I love this line: “Then, the not alone but feels alone can be forgotten.”

Thank you for your encouragement. I am sure many of us feel alone in the crowd. Maybe, in exposing it, we can be not so alone.

Nothing worse than being alone when you are actually not! I like the way you express yourself with few words…visiting from FMF, #25!

Thank you. I am glad I can express myself well in few words–I don’t seem to get that many out in five minutes.
It is no fun feeling alone, but that is a feeling we all experience at one time or another. You’d think we would help each other more if we knew we all felt that way.
