Connect Your Faith and Real Life

The Five Minute Friday word is connect.

Connect your faith and real life

Connect

Go.

How do I connect my faith with my real life? I don’t want them to be separate entities. I want them to flow one into the other. But laundry and parenting, how do they connect? I wonder.

Could laundry be worship?

Could the hours spent rocking a child sick with fever be sacrifice?

I want it to be. But how?

It starts with connecting with God in his word. Knowing his word is the beginning. In knowing his word, my thoughts are transformed because those words, rich with life, invade my thoughts. They guide my thoughts as I meditate on them.

I can’t simply read them, I need to digest them. Chewing on them again and again. At times, a devotional book will help me. Or, a good question will call me to pause and reflect.

When I have paused on God’s word, I have a better chance at connecting it to my life.

Laundry and parenting, you are my opportunities to grow in faith.

Stop.

What are you doing to connect your faith with your real life?

One of the things I’m doing to integrate faith and real life is through the PARK Plan. You can read about it here.

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you and encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.

Connecting my faith to real life is thought provoking. I suppose I count always remembering my Savior a connecting link between my devotional time and my living time. Every time I think of him he enters my real life.

I like the idea of remembering the Savior, and having devotional time is key to keeping you remembering him throughout the day. He is always with us.
