This week, our CAKE Academy writer, BunBun, wrote an autobiographical story. She decided to write about Christmas.
My Perfect Christmas
Have you ever dreamed about what you wanted to be when you grew up? I dream about becoming the greatest guitar player and singer. I never thought my dreams could begin at age eleven. Chistmas 2013 became the first step for my dream.
As soon as my eyes were first fluttering open, Bear burst in the room, excitedly telling me that there was an unwrapped present for me in the tree, and that it was something I had wanted for a long time. His eyes, twinkled, and he never stopped smiling. I sat up straight in bed. Babycakes was with us as we thundered down the stairs like elephants who had their tails on fire. My mind raced. What could it be? What had I wanted? I gasped and squealed when I saw the mini unicorn pillow pet, which I had thought was gone forever. I ordered Bear upstairs to retieve her mother so they could be reunited. As I held them in my arms, I gazed longingly at the huge box next to the tree, hoping it was my guitar. It was the perfect size, but my constant searching had revealed to have no name tag. I could only hope.
Because I was hungry, I let go of my precious friends to go have breakfast. About half an hour later, the rest of my family trickled sluggishly into the room. After second breakfast, we all sat down to do the once a year tradition of What God Wants for Christmas. The whole time I was thinking, will this never end? Let’s just open presents now. I wonder if I’ll get the guitar. What if I don’t? My thoughts kept drifting back to the guitar. Soon enough, we were allowed the pleasure of digging into our stockings. I enjoyed the jolly Christmas letters and small gifts, but my mind was on something else: the guitar. Finally, it was time for presents. I was impatient as everyone else recieved their gifts. But before I knew it, it was my turn. My heart was full with happy expectation as I opened…..the guitar! Running across the room, I sat down to fiddle with my guitar. I couldn’t stop smiling, and I was already sure it was the best moment of my life.
Christmas 2013 encouraged me to follow my dream and learn guitar. Those happy moments and glourious feelings all flow through me whenever I hold my brand new guitar.
Note: I changed the names into their respective nicknames. Other than that, these are all BunBun’s words.
